I’m very excited to let you know that my dear friend Bret Parsons and I will be leading a tour of Hearst Castle this January and we will be offering a special viewpoint.

Many know of the splendors and over-the-top mixture of so many historical elements – Spanish, Italian, English – in the castle’s design.

But what is far less known is that it was built by a woman – Julia Morgan – for William Randolph Hearst. The two connected through his mother, Phoebe Apperson Hearst, who was a network builder for women at the turn of the century – women doctors, lawyers, architects, etc. Morgan was the first woman admitted to the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.

Details of the trip will be forthcoming. Feel free to email me at eschapa@adelphia.net or visit my website for updates on tours, lectures, blogs and more.
