Eleanor House 3I’m going to be casting spells soon.

You recall that I moved recently into my new and enchanting Storybook Style house in the Wilshire Vista neighborhood – which is making me feel like Snow White. The quirky home is perfect for me, and I love every inch of its high-beamed ceilings, Batchelder fireplace, Hansel-and-Gretel silhouette, huge windows, French doors, and much more.

But now the work begins. With my dear friend, the super talented designer Ian Patrick we’re going to work some fairy tale magic to make the 4-bedroom, 3-bath house, built in 1926, even more perfect – while ensuring that it all stays true to its 1920s architectural style.

Eleanor DoorwayMost of the planned changes involve the interior – including purchasing and shedding furniture that makes sense for the house – but some exterior alterations are also on the drawing board. Here are some highlights:

• Murals will be painted on some of the ceilings and walls that feature woodland creatures and lush botanical patterns.

• To be purchased or already bought include a Knole sofa, a Queen Anne dining room set, and a crown-shaped chandelier with a frog for “my Prince Charming” (aka my fiancé Linas Kojelis).

• Construction of a pool and spa, along with some new landscaping, in the back yard.

• A remodel of and addition to the detached garage in the back to turn it into an office and library for me.

These changes will take time, but I’m going to make sure my friends and guests are as enchanted as I am when they walk through the door.

All my best to you,

Eleanor
