5After months of careful planning, we are now ready to get you signed up for our luxury art and architecture tour in the South of France October 9 through 18. Please join us!

This tour will be a veritable feast of stunning works by such artists as Van Gogh, Chagall and Matisse, as well as many gorgeous and historically significant churches, chateaus and other sites, many of which date back to the 12th century. We’ll travel in luxury and get an insider’s view into the wealth of art and architecture in this special corner of the world.

10The itinerary has changed a little in the last month, but I think it is even more exciting and interesting.

Highlights of the tour, which begins and ends in Nice on the French Riviera, include the following.

In Nice on the French Riviera, there will be visits to the Chagall Museum and the Matisse Museum, as well as the Palais Lascaris, which dates back to the 17th century, and the city’s Musée des Beaux Arts. A side trip to nearby St. Paul de Vence with its Fondation Maegt, a famed museum featuring modern art, is also on the itinerary.

18After three nights in Nice, we will depart for Greoux-Les-Bains in Provence, stopping at Le Thoronet Abbey, a former Cistercian abbey built in the late 12thand early 13thcentury, now restored as a museum. Greoux-Les-Bains will be the jumping off point for a day at the Regional Market of Forcalquier, followed by a couple of options: Roman and Medieval Thermal Spa or a self-guided tour of the Castle of Greoux. The next day will take us to another market and on to the charming village of Lourmarin, where we will visit the Lourmarin Castle, and then on to our hotel in Buoux.

The next day we will head to Les Baux-de-Provence, and the following day to the famous Roman city of Arles, with visits to its historic Arena, Church of St. Trophine, and new Van Gogh Museum.

32Marseille is the destination the following day, with several sites on the itinerary, including the MuCEM (Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée), and Unité d’Habitation, Le Corbusier’s famous Utopian mixed-use housing development, which incorporates his theories of architecture within a twelve-story structure complete with shops, medical and educational facilities, a hotel, and restaurant.

On the last day, we will stop at St. Maximin Basilique – with its impressive arches, beautiful pipe organ, and crypt with the relics of Mary Magdalene – on our way back to Nice.

34The cost of the tour is $4,995 double occupancy and $6,495 single occupancy, which will include stays in luxury hotels, luxury coach transportation, all breakfasts, five lunches and five dinners (some at Michelin-rated restaurants) and entrance to all sites and museums. There will also be plenty of time allotted for shopping or exploring on one’s own.
