There’s no place like New York for the holidays. Particularly for a design freak like me.

I was fortunate to have had an apartment in the Big Apple for many years, giving me a chance to live at warp speed smack dab in the middle of design central. And the biggest rush for me came at Christmas time when the city turns magical and store windows transform into winter wonderlands that give Broadway a run for its money when it comes to spectacle.

Let’s face it: no city does window displays like New York (with the possible exception of Paris). Hurried New Yorkers at this time of year actually stop in their tracks to linger in front of Bergdorf Goodman’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus, several layers deep, to view the artistry, craftsmanship and storytelling of talented designers.

And nobody does window displays the way Angeleno Douglas Little does. To say his stunning designs are luxurious and glamorous is an understatement.

Little – who lives in Los Angeles and has a studio in New York – creates not only window displays but also lush events, products, advertising and other media. A visit to his website is a visual feast.

But at this time of year, it’s his window displays that grab our attention. Whether you’re planning a trip to New York this holiday season – or looking for ideas for your home Christmas décor – you can find inspiration in Little’s work.

Happy holiday designing!
