I’m thrilled to be expanding my educational endeavors into the real estate community. In the past couple months I’ve presented two “Architectural Styles of Los Angeles” lectures to two groups of Realtors – one with Rodeo Realty, the other ZipRealty.
I’ve given lectures to agents at John Aaroe Group in the past, with audiences ranging from 50 to 200 people.
I believe it’s important for real estate agents to be able to talk knowledgeably to their clients about the style of home they are showing, why it’s architecturally important, and how it fits into L.A. in an historical and sociopolitical context.
From the Realtor’s perspective, this knowledge can help make the sale. And though very slowly emerging, there is a slightly growing trend for buyers to want homes designed by a particular architect or, at least, for their real estate agents to be informed on architectural styles.
It’s a rewarding way for me to spread my gospel that L.A. has a rich and eclectic architectural heritage that is worth knowing about and preserving.
