I’m excited to announce that I’m scheduling a wide range of architecture and design tours throughout the Los Angeles area – and points beyond. From San Pedro to Chicago, these tours will be a feast for the eyes, brain and heart.

Earlier this month, I inaugurated the L.A. Decorative Arts, Interior Design & Architecture Meetup group with a tour of the mid-century gem Sheats Goldstein House in Beverly Hills, which attracted 25 enthusiastic attendees. That was followed by a wonderful Art Deco tour and brunch onboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach on May 17.

My next trip is this Saturday, May 30 to San Pedro – that’s right, San Pedro. Many people do not realize that the San Pedro area is home to a very interesting piece of Los Angeles history. From the Point Fermin Lighthouse to the Banning Museum, you’ll be surprised by the variety of architecture and the richness of the history of the area.

On Tuesday, June 2, we’re off to the Hollyhock House, the Frank Lloyd Wright gem in Barnsdall Park that was recently reopened to the public after having been closed for years for renovations.

Outside the Meetup Group forum, I’m also organizing a journey back in time to Victorian San Jose and San Francisco. Highlights of the July 1-5 tour include the Winchester Mystery House, a private visit to Bradbury & Bradbury, special visit with PBS and HGTV design personality and author Paul Duchscherer, accommodations at the beautiful Adagio Hotel, a champagne cruise of San Francisco Bay, a visit to the Fine Arts Museums, brunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Sutro’s, and much more!

Through the dynamic Santa Monica College Community Education program, I’m planning tours of the Adamson House/Serra Retreat in Malibu for Oct. 1 and Huntington Library/Rose Garden Tea on Nov. 7.

I’m also planning an architecture tour Labor Day weekend of Chicago with noted architect Christopher Sorensen and possibly a trip to Mexico in late September. Stay tuned for details.
