Huntington Library: A Day in the Art Collections, Gardens, and English Tea

Huntington LibraryIn 1903, Henry Huntington purchased the San Marino Ranch, a working ranch with citrus groves, nut and fruit orchards, and alfalfa crops. Today, the estate is home to more than a dozen spectacular gardens spread across 120 acres, along with one of the most distinguished collections of 18th- and 19th-century British paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts outside London, as well as an American art collection spanning from the 1690s to the 1950s. Start the tour with a visit to the art galleries and Henry and Arabella Huntington’s Beaux Arts-style home. Enjoy a delicious buffet luncheon and tea at the Rose Garden Tea Room overlooking three acres of roses. After lunch, spend time in the various gardens, where you can just relax, walk about, or break out the sketchpad. Wear comfortable walking shoes and casual clothes, and bring along your sketchpad. Meet at the entrance to the Huntington Library, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino.
